About Me

My name is Alexander Defortuna, and I am currently a student at Babson College with a strong interest in investing, business economics, and value creation. I am deeply motivated by the process of understanding how markets work, how great businesses are built, and how disciplined decision making compounds over time. I hold a 4.0 GPA at Babson and spend a significant portion of my time outside of class reading and studying financial markets, business models, and investment frameworks. On average, I dedicate several hours each day to learning both to deepen my understanding and to hold myself to a high personal standard of accountability. My interest in investing began in high school after reading The Snowball, Warren Buffett’s biography, which introduced me to the idea that investing is not about prediction, but about patience, judgment, and long term thinking. That book sparked a lasting curiosity that has continued to shape how I approach learning and decision making today.

Fortuna Capital Management's Story

I founded Fortuna Capital Management as a way to push myself beyond the classroom and apply theory to real world decision making. I wanted a structured platform that would force me to think clearly, document my reasoning, and hold myself accountable to a disciplined investment process.

Fortuna Capital Management serves as both a research platform and a personal investment vehicle one where ideas are developed through deep analysis, written investment theses, and long term conviction rather than short term outcomes. The goal is not to be perfect, but to continuously refine judgment, improve process, and better understand how professionals in this industry think and operate.

This platform represents my commitment to learning by doing building real skills, developing sound judgment, and preparing myself to apply these principles in professional settings over time.
